Directions Pound Ridge Reservation

Cross River, NY

At 4,700 acres, Pound Ridge Reservation is Westchester County's largest Park. Since 1925 the land has been set aside as a sanctuary for wildlife and as a recreational area. The Park's six main trails in conjunction with several smaller trails comprise a 35 mile trail system. All types of terrain can be found.

The Leatherman's loop 10 k is a very popular race that is held in the spring. Part of the race's appeal are the two stream crossings and the challanging terrain. Two of the park's prominent features are the site of the old fire tower and Leatherman's cave.

The park would be far more popular with Road Hogs, except there is a $7.00 per vehicle entrance fee. Does the Grand Caynon cost that much?

    Directions from the Merritt Parkway

  • From the Merritt Parkway, take exit 34, Long Ridge Road and go north about 6 miles (CT Route 104). The last two miles, plus or minus, is in New York State. The road ends at a Stop light with a T intersection with a gas station on your left.
  • Take a left at this intersection on to Pound Ridge Road, Route 137, toward Bedford Village.
  • You will enter Bedford Village in about 1/2 mile. Take a right at the town triangle to get on NY Routes 22 and 121. Leave the village heading North. If you are going the right way, you will encounter a stop sign (where you bear slightly right). If you are going the wrong way, you will encounter a stop light and you will be going South on Route 22.
  • About 1/4 mile outside of Bedford village Route 121 and Route 22 split. Bear Right and follow Route 121 to Cross River. The entrance to the Park is on your right about 5 miles after the split. If you encounter a T intersection with a Stop sign (at Route 35), you have gone 100 yards too far.
  • This is actually the unofficial entrance. There is room for about 3 cars to park here. Continue about 1/2 mile the Park entrance. If you are at the entrance before 8:00 a.m. there is usually no one at the gate to collect the $7.00 fee
  • Take your first right and follow Michigan Road to the end. Meet in this parking lot as we will use the X-C ski trails.
